Black Engineers in the U.S.: A Directory by James K. Ho The compilers of Black Engineers in the United States—A Directory sought to answer a few simple questions: Who and where are the nation’s black engineers? Where did they matriculate? Where do they work? What are their notable achievements? Engineers Percy A. Pierre and James Ho developed an exhaustive database from information obtained from member engineering colleges of the American Society for Engineering Education and through acquaintances at historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) and other engineering institutions. They assembled this information as a means of assessing the credentials, career paths, and professional activities of black engineers, and of tracking the many contributions these talented individuals have made to the nation’s technological success. The work is also useful as a networking resource and historical record. |
